Lady Gaga announced her European tour dates this morning. Here are the dates…

Possibly the biggest upset of Lady Gaga’s announcement of her European dates is where she starts. She will start the European leg of her tour in the Balkans before moving to locations where mainstream artists typically go. But Lady Gaga won’t visit large, popular countries like Greece and Russia, which has to be disappointing for her fans in those countries.

Tickets for Gaga’s 21-date European tour will go on sale later this month.

“Like any collaboration, when [Lady Gaga] got some ideas and wanted to grow in a different direction I was like, ‘You know what, go ahead,’” explained Laurieann Gibson, Lady Gaga’s former creative director, of the split with Gaga. “I think it reached a point where I wanted to keep the brand that I helped build a little purer …No judgment, but it just got a little dark for me creatively.”

Yesterday, singer Rufus Wainwright dismissed Lady Gaga’s musical talents, saying the singer didn’t have one good song.

Before we get to the quotes, we should make it clear that Wainwright has a new album coming out. I won’t mention the title or release date because dissing Lady Gaga is obviously a PR push for the record.

Wainwright said the following to Music Week…

“I totally admire her tenacity, her ambition and her strength of vision. There’s just not one good song there. People, especially gay men, are falling so hard for it.”

He went on to say…

“Certain things that she says: ‘Look at me. I was like you one day and now I’m this – and you can do it too.’ I find it a bit disingenuous. We are in this somewhat sinister period and artists have got to kind of toughen up and be real. It’s about conveying what’s inside us, as opposed to the return of the cone breasts. I find it predictable and boring.”

Lady Gaga’s Twitter account recently eclipsed the 20 million followers mark — she was the first to reach that amount. Now, a report says Gaga’s Twitter account is worth $30 million-per-year, which is one third of what the pop superstar made last year.

Marketing manager John Bonini, who works for Impact Branding & Design, says the publicity and direct connection with Gaga helps boost her earning potential, as well as make sure fans purchase her music instead of download it illegally. He added: “She really engages them and re-tweets stuff they say as if she was one of them.”

Lady Gaga has been very forward about her desire to be a mother in recent interviews. In this Sunday’s two-hour special in which Oprah features Lady Gaga, the international superstar said the following about motherhood…

“Yes, I want kids, I want a soccer team and I want a husband,” Lady Gaga said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which airs Sunday on Winfrey’s OWN cable network. “Yeah, I do. Well, you know, I’m being superfluous. I don’t want to have one kid. I want to have a few.”
